Brockman Memorial Tree Tour

In-person
09/21/2024, 11:00 am–1:00 pm
Meet at the bus shelter on Stevens Way

Hello new Huskies and welcome to the University of Washington! Here at the UW we are proud of our trees, we live in the Evergreen State, in the Emerald City, and we just happen to have over 9000 trees growing on campus, with over 480 different varieties (more than just about any other university in the country)! With so many trees on campus, this tour is the perfect way to dive into that fascinating leafy world. Originally designed in 1980, the Brockman Memorial Tree Tour was recently updated and is an excellent way to learn about the landscape of the UW campus, the benefits of our urban forest, and stories about how we as humans are connected for trees. Its also a perfect opportunity to learn your way around campus and find out where the best quite outdoor study spots are! Open to tree lovers and novices alike, whether you know every tree on the planet by heart or have never seen one in your life, we hope to see you there!

Guided by School of Environmental and Forest Sciences alum Theodore Hoss, this tour will depart from the Bus Shelter on Stevens Way just west of Anderson Hall and work its way up to the top of campus with stops at trees along the way. For those unable to make this guided tour; feel free to visit the Tour Website or the front desk of Winkenwerder Hall for a self guided version, and keep your eyes peeled for more tour dates as the school year goes on. This tour usually lasts about two hours, but anyone needing to leave early is welcome to do so.
