09/19/2024, 4:00 pm–6:00 pm
Meet at the Burke Museum entrance

Want to get to know the local forests?! Looking for the best shady study spots on campus?! Interested in trees, forests, or nature in general?! This event is for you! The Evergreen State is a perfect description for our home, with a lush variety of woods covering a good portion of the state; and the UW Campus is home to almost every one of the trees which can be found in the state’s native forests! On this tour you will have a chance to become truly familiar with Washingtons native trees; and learn your way around the campus a bit better. Guided by School of Environmental and Forest Sciences alum Theodore Hoss; the tour will depart from outside the entrance of the Burke Museum at 4pm, and will work its way around campus to the Husky Union Building (HUB).

This walk is open to all people and to any level of interest in trees! It will include helpful tips for identifying native trees, but also fun facts and stories about how each of these species connect to us as human beings. Bonus tips on the best green places to enjoy on campus, and a chance to connect and make community while enjoying some time outside! Please dress appropriately for the weather, as we will be outside for the duration. The tour generally lasts about 2 hours, but folks are welcome to leave early if they need.
