UW Riverways is recruiting students interested in working in K-12 institutions, tribal relations, and public service.

We will be tabling at Mary Gates Hall (MGH) 171 — EXPD office, main conference room — from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

  • Neah Bay: Telling our Stories, Imagining our Futures
    • Year-long mentorship program with Makah 5th grade students; including a week-long Alternative Spring Break Literacy Arts/STEAM activity 
    • Service Requirements: Week before Autumn Quarter and Spring Break (between Winter and Spring Quarter).
    • Mentoring elementary-aged students in Neah Bay for college and career exploration.
    • Complete 1-5 credit seminar EDUC 401E in the Autumn and Winter Quarter.

  • Literacy Arts/STEAM: Alternative Spring Break (ASB)
    • Volunteer for Alternative Spring Break experience, mentoring students in rural/tribal schools across WA. 
    • School partners in 2025 include Tonasket, Harrah, Paschal Sherman Indian School (Colville), and Taholah (Quinault). 
    • Cohort-based learning to build prototypes using STEAM activities. 
    • Complete the 1-5 credit seminar EDUC 411A in the Winter Quarter.

All lodging, food, and transportation costs are covered by UW Riverways

No Experience Necessary. Earn academic credit for training and professional development (i.e., EDUC 401 E & EDUC 411 A).
