This informational session will inform students of the nonprofit Washington Student Engagement Network (wa-sen), the student arm of the College Promise Coalition. Wa-sen provides civic engagement opportunities, paid internships, and a state-wide network of students, faculty, law-makers and other organizations such as College Success Foundation, Independent Colleges of Washington, and more. Wa-sen works to empower the student voice by providing them the space and time to advocate for student resources directly to law-makers. We have two annual events we are telling students about. Our student summit in the fall where we will train and motivate students on how to engage with politicians through story-telling and educating, our flavor of advocacy, preparing them for our advocacy days at the state capitol in February where students will have appointments with their district elected officials.
